‘Kural - Tulu Touch’ Android Keyboard Launched at ‘Tulunadu Janapada Sambhrama’ in Bengaluru

BENGALURU, October 4, 2026: In a significant step towards the digital development of the Tulu language, ‘Kural - Tulu Touch’ (Kural - Tulu Touch), a new Android keyboard app, was officially launched at the ‘Tulunadu Janapada Sambhrama’ cultural programme held at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The programme was organised by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and was held at 5.30 pm, attracting prominent personalities, cultural enthusiasts and Tulu language supporters.

The mobile keyboard has been developed under the leadership of Jai Tulunad (R.), an organisation working for the preservation and promotion of Tulu language and culture. Developers Harshith Devadiga Bailur and Chaithra Poojari Alevuru were involved in developing the application.

The keyboard was formally launched by Taranath Gatty, President of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, who attended the programme as the chief guest. He said that the new keyboard would significantly contribute to increasing the use of Tulu in the digital space and help make the language more accessible to users on mobile devices.

The launch was attended by Dinesh Hegde, President of Tulukoota; Professor Radhakrishna; Purushotham Chendla; Indira Hegde; Akshatha Raj Perla; Sadananda Mavji; and representatives of Jai Tulunad (R.), including Nidheesh Shetty, Jayaprasad Kulal, Dhananjaya Acharya, Geetha Lakshmisha, Bana Shri Anchan, Yatheesh Mundodi, Sharath Kodavoor and Jithesh Kulal, among others.

The launch of ‘Kural - Tulu Touch’ marks another step towards strengthening the presence of Tulu in the digital ecosystem and encouraging wider use of the language among the younger generation.
